This week's question....

Dear Ms. Strum:

My three children are in elementary school, ranging in age from 5 to 11. Every night in our house is a disaster when it comes to homework. I don't know how to help them learn everything they need to know and still get dinner made after I come home from a full day of work. Do you have any tips on how a parent can deal with daily homework so that it doesn't feel like another full time job supervising a three-ring circus? Also, do you have any hints about how to get long range projects completed in time? My oldest child always seems to wait until the last minute to do reports and I am tired of arguing with him. Also, when I work late, how can I make sure everything is done well? Sometimes when I get home after hours, I am just too tired to check the work to see if it was done correctly, but I want to help my children get the best out of their educations.

Thanks,

Wisconsin Mom
