fireI'm a Big Red Fire Truck

I'm a big red fire truck long and stout,
When I am needed, I roar and shout.
People love to see me rush about,
Just turn me on and head me out.

I'm a big red fire truck stout and long,
Here's is my ladder, tall and strong.
When I get a call, you'll hear my song,
Just climb aboard and turn me on.

Ten Little Firefighters (finger play)

Ten little firefighters
Sleeping in their beds.
"Ding!" went the bell,
And down the pole they slid.
They raced to the fire
And put out all the flames.
Then the 10 little firefighters
Went back to bed again.

Wheels on the Fire Engine
We do "Wheels on the Fire Engine" instead of bus. We use the siren, ladder, seat belts, and so on and so on. Just use your imagination with everything on the truck!

Stop, Drop and Roll
How about stop, drop, and roll? When they drop and roll make sure they cover their eyes. This is so the fire cannot burn their eyes. I also teach the concept "fall and crawl". I use that term because it ryhmes and the kids remember it easily.

Station Field Trip
You could also go on a field trip to a fire station or perhaps they could bring a truck to you. I did this and the kids LOVED it. The firemen put on all of their gear to show the kids what a fireman looked like and told them they should not be afraid during a fire and hide. I always ask them to put on their mask and talk about them.... telling them not to be afraid if they see a fireman wearing this...he needs to to breath in the fire...he will help you. That brings me to the concept of "don't hide, go outside" It is also easy to remember because it rhymes. Do you have a safe place outside? If not I teach the kids where they should meet me outside. I also teach the kids several ways to get out of my house. I have several doors and all of the twos and up must learn how to open them.

Police station....I took my girl scouts once I called ahead they were nice The kids would love the car.....all the buttons siren etc.....

Stop, Drop and Roll
(to the tune of "Farmer in the Dell")

Stop, Drop and Roll,
Stop, Drop and Roll,
If your clothes should catch on fi-re,
Stop, Drop and Roll.

(to the tune of "Frere Jacques"

There's a fi-re
There's a fi-re

Call the fire department,
Call the fire department,

Never, Never Play with Matches
(to the tune of "Frere Jacques"

Never, never
Play with matches,
No! No! No!
No! No! No!

You will get in trouble,
You might burn your fingers,
No! No! No!
No! No! No!

Fire Engine
Precut circular and rectangular shapes from construction paper. Have the children glue the precut shapes on to a piece of construction paper to resemble a fire truck. They may add yarn or string for the fire hose and use straws to make a ladder.

I'm a Big Red Fire Truck

I'm a big red fire truck long and stout,
When I am needed, I roar and shout.
People love to see me rush about,
Just turn me on and head me out.

I'm a big red fire truck stout and long,
Here's is my laddler, tall and strong.
When I get a call, you'll hear my song,
Just climb aboard and turn me on.

Fire Engine

Use about 6 small avon jewlery boxes or something similar. Attach them together with masking tape. Decorate with red construction paper & black wheels. Make a hose made from two or three paper towel rolls then covered in black
construction paper.

Fire Fighting

sidewalk chalk squirt bottles water
Draw a pretend fire on the side of your house or garage with colored chalk. Use water-filled squirt bottles to put the fire out. Squirt, the fire will magically disappear.

Five little firefighters

(show five fingers)
Sleeping in a row.
(rest cheeks on hands & close eyes)
Ring goes the bell-
Down the pole they go.
(Pretend to slide down pole)
They jump on the engine
(Jump Up)
And put out the fire.
(Pretend to squirt with a hose)
Now they're back home-
My, but they're tired.
(Stretch and yawn.)

Fire Painting
Using colours associated with fire (red, orange) squirt or draw thick lines on the paper and add a few drops of black paint here and there. Press clear plastic wrap onto the paper and squeegee the paint around. Pull plastic off of the paper using a strong vertical pulling action. (This will cause the paint to look like fire.) When paint is dry have the children glue a black cutout of a house (windows cut out) and/or a black cutout of a fire truck.

Firefighter Song
Sung to 'I'm A Little Teapot'
I'm a firefighter, my name is John
I put my boots and helmet on
I hurry to the fire and give a shout.
With a burst of water,
The fire is out.

Fire Truck

You need:
1. A large card board box
2. 4 Paper plates
3. Red, white, and black paint
4. Some large paint brushes

Let the children paint the box with the red paint. Then let the children paint the plates with black paint. Cut a ladder out of card board and then let the children paint it white. after all the peices dry put them together using tape, and put some fireman stuff in and around it and put 2 small chairs in the front for the front of the fire engine.

Firemens hat.

Use large (12 x 18) red paper. Cut a semi-circle in the center (the childs head goes in there) Round off edges. Keep a piece of the center cut, to go up, in the front (like a firemens helmet) have children write 911 on it.

(sung to: Pop Goes The Weasel)
Down the street the engine goes
The Firemen fight the fire
Up the ladder with their hose
Out goes the fire.

Invite the children to set up a firehouse. Allow the riding toys to be the fire engines, ambulances and the fire chiefs car. Set up a sleeping area, boots with pants can be set up next to the bed.Give the children a bell to sound the alarm and let their imaginations run wild!

Fireman Shake

Fireman need to be very strong. Prepare a healthy milkshake for your little fire boys and girls.
1 cup strawberries
2 tsp. honey
4 large scoops vanilla ice cream
1 1/2 cups milk
In a blender or food processor, puree berries with honey, add ice cream and milk. Pour into glasses and serve.

Four Busy Firefighters

Four busy firefighters could not retire
Because they might have to put out a fire.
The first one rang a big brass bell.
The second one said, 'It's the Grand Hotel!'
The third one said, 'Down the pole we'll slide.'
The fourth one said, 'Get ready to ride.'
The siren said, 'Get out of the way!'
'We have to put out a fire today!'
The red fire truck sped on to the fire,
As the big yellow flames grew higher and higher.
Swish went the water from the fire-hose spout
And in no time at all the fire was out.

I Am A Fireman

(sung to: I'm A Little Teapot)
I am a fireman dressed in red.
With my fire hat on my head.
I can drive the firetruck, fight fire too,
And help make things safe for you.

The Firefighter

This firefighter rings the bell. (thumb)
This firefighter hold the hose so well. (index)
This firefighter slides down the pole. (middle)
This firefighter chops a hole. (ring)
This firefighter climbs higher and higher. (pinky)
And all the firefighters put out the fire!

(tune: "Eensy Weensy Spider")
The firefighter helps us learn our safety rules.
Playing with matches is only for fools.
If you see a fire, "Help," you'll scream and shout.
Dial 911. The firefighter will put it out.
